For Some, Online Gambling is a Full-Time Job

Industry pundits report a new trend in online gambling: scores of people have begun to make their living through online gambling, particularly poker.

Every morning at precisely 9 am, Kevin Armstrong, 23, hops out of bed and turns on his computer, headed straight to an online gambling site.

Armstrong, like many professional online gambling players, started off playing for fun. He began when he was in high school, casually visiting online gambling websites, and continued through college.

Now Armstrong graduated last year from a New York Junior College with an Associate’s Degree in business administration. After an admittedly brief job search of 3 months, Armstrong considered his options, and decided to make a career, at least for now, of doing what he loves best: online gambling. His game is poker, and he expects to make about $40,000 this year.

“I don’t think I’ll do this for the rest of my life. Eventually, I’ll settle down and get a boring job like everyone else,” laughed Kevin. “But for now, it beats my other options!”

An online gambling champion can make up to $60,000 per year, and more if he or she has a lot of success in tournaments.

In the last few years, since Everyman Chris Moneymaker won $2.5 million in the World Series of Poker, interest in online gambling has skyrocket among people of all ages and lifestyles.
